Through 30 years as a musician Pete Johansen has, with his characteristic fiddle and voice, made his mark on a long line of bands in a variety of genres. He has recorded and toured with Tristania, The Sins Of Thy Beloved, The Scarr, Sirenia, Morgul, Modesty Blaise and The Tramps among other bands and project he has been involved with and contributed to. He´s gigged sleazy dives and huge festivals in Norway, Europe, USA and South America. He´s been trough the best of times and the worst of times in this strange parallel world called the music business.
Finally, in 2011, Pete releases his first album under his own name. With songs written over a ten years long period, Pete has made his most personal album.
The theme of the “It´s Been Real” is the importance of keeping ones dreams alive, and both what concerns the lyrics and the music it’s all about what life can bring, when it’s lived under the influence of Appollo and Dionysus! Here’s everything Pete friends would expect and hope for, and much, much more! Melodic pop tunes blends with rock, jazz, metal and folk, absurd violin licks and surreal vocals.
On this album friends from a long life in music join him: Blues king Oddvar Sol Solheim (Bror te Larsen, Hard Luck Bluesband), cowriter through many years; Jørn Knutsen (Bror te Larsen, Modesty Blaise), Synth. Wizard Trond Inge Olsen ( Die Bahn, Romantic Noize), Bass legend Kjell Jensen (Nurk Twins, Smalhans, Reidar Larsen, Die Bahn, Vestlandsfanden and many others. There are also two magnificent duets, where Pete is joined by two of Norway’s strongest female voices: Siw Line Green and Susanne Nordbø.
The album is produced by Pete and Bjørn Erik Sørensen and released by CCAP
It’s been real. It’s a meal. It’s a world to peel. Norwegian rock´s most obscure jester is back. More than ever before.
